You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44
The devil has nothing to do with the truth. There is no truth in him. It is expected of the devil to lie, so for him, he is a liar since the beginning of time and the father of lies.
Although lying is common and a sin that everyone does, but it’s still a sin. Throughout the bible, we do read numerous people who told lies for various reasons. Cain kicked the ball of lies first in the first book of the bible, following that, we read the patriots of old, Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, and of course Abraham’s wife Sarah did too to the “The Angel” during the visitation of good news. On through the course of history of the Israelites and Jews, the long list of people includes Rahab the prostitute, King David, Apostle Peter and Ananias and Sapphira. All the errant ones except Ananias and Sapphira were spared with death instantaneously as a punishment. In Exodus 20:16 we are commanded not to bear false witness, which is lying. In the book of Proverbs, chapter 12: 22, it states that God hates lying. The epistle of 1Timothy, chapter 4:2 states that lying is hypocrisy. And again in the book of Proverbs, chapter 6:16-17, here it lists lying as one of the six things that God hates. And in the final book of the bible, we are reminded by the Apostle John that there are eight types of sinner that will be thrown into the lake of fire. You guessed it right; liars are one of the eight in the group of sinners that will be congregating in the lake of fire.
Lies are powerful whenever they are accepted as “gospel truth” by their supporters or believers. Lies have the power to hinder us from doing God’s will, alter our perceptions of God, others, and who we are in Christ. They have the power to influence our behavior and keep us locked into patterns of sin, negative thoughts, and unmanageable feelings.
The lies, falsehoods and deliberate misinformation that are currently overwhelming United States of America, are ridiculously irresponsible and selfishly reckless. The outcomes of such devastating lies and misinformation not only did what the former paragraph mentioned, but more, it caused their ignorant believers and followers immense cynicism and distrust towards genuine aids from authorities. The consequences of lies and misinformation are adding layers of complication, to the already strained governmental responses and assistances for natural disasters. Compulsive liars are irresponsible people who want to create havoc and instill fears on their own people, who are the victims of the natural calamities for selfish political gains.
The nonsensical falsehood of migrants’ eating the cats and dogs, even the geeses in Springfield, Ohio was a classic. However, it was unseated of late by other ludicrous claims of that “they were able to control the weather” for political gains in the forthcoming Presidential Election. What have these morons been smoking lately? Such absurdity is unbelievable and non-existent, except on one incidence that was recorded in Mark 4: 34-41. Here was when our Lord Jesus Christ was having His deserved rest on a boat that was caught in the middle of a furious squall that nearly overwhelmed the boat. The disciples were terrified and sought the Lord’s helps. Then, the impossible happened when the Lord of the universe rebuked the squall, to the shock of His disciples that even the wind and waves obeyed Him. Praise the Lord! That is what I would genuinely classify as an ability of godly power to control the weather. Not as the lunatic conspiracy theorists had claimed in their baseless theories on weather’s modification and disaster relief efforts.
Juggling between battling the aftermath of natural disasters and falsehoods, the government authorities and civil society organizations are engaged in a vigorous effort to fight false narratives. They are pushing back hard on disaster-related disinformation. Their effort which I hope will save more lives and spare the victims from human suffering in these “one-in-millennium” category five storms.
The bible mentioned our Lord Jesus crying out saying, “If you abide in My word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. When we chose the side of truth, we picked the same side as God. There will not be any room left for falsehoods, lies and misinformation. Why? Because eventually, Truth will Prevails, as promised by the Lord of the Universe Himself.
Lastly, when the charlatan and grifter prayed, I quote, “We just prayed for everybody,” he said, “We hope that God will keep them safe.” I cannot agree more but with one difference. That is on what God needs to keep them safe from? Definitely, God needs to keep the poor victims from his lies, falsehood and deliberate misinformation, not just the human suffering of natural disasters. We can perceive his duplicity in all that he does to garner political points for his forthcoming presidential election.
Be wise, fellow people and Christians, do not be fool by the lies, falsehoods and misinformation. Stand on the Word of God, and the truth and peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Especially so, in this precarious times of adversity and distress that creates anxieties, fears and doubts. Stand on the Truth of God because our eternity matters.
